Christmas 2020 was definitely a little different, but we have zero complaints over here at the Tibbetts house. It was just as fun and magical as ever, and two days later I can’t help but feel so blessed!
Brian had to work on Christmas Day, so we decided to do a bulk of our celebrating on Christmas Eve. We put all the gifts we got the girls and what we got for each other under the tree, so the girls were so excited that morning...especially for their new bean bag chairs!
We had a late breakfast with my family (including Rudolph pancakes of course!) and it was the best time. It’s been a long time since all of us were together in one house so that family time was by far the best gift ever.
After my family headed out in the afternoon, Brian’s parents came over for Christmas Eve dinner. I knew I would be exhausted from hosting breakfast, so I got our entire dinner catered from a local restaurant, and it was the best decision ever. The food was delicious and there was very little prep. After dinner we opened the rest of the gifts and made a huge mess of wrapping paper and toys. It was so much fun, and the girls loved every moment. They were most excited to exchange the gifts they had picked out for each other...we will definitely keep sister gifts a tradition for years to come.
After a quick check outside to see if it was dark enough for Santa to come, cookies and milk were put out. We also did something a little different this year and made reindeer food with oatmeal and Christmas sprinkles instead of leaving out carrots. I think they liked it even better ;)
The next morning, I was up at 6:00, but the girls slept in until 7:30! They were so thrilled that Santa liked our treats, and dove straight in to their stockings.
We ate some candy, and played with some stocking toys just to make the magic last a little bit longer. Then we finally went over to the tree to open the gifts that Santa left. I’m pleased to report they got everything they wanted.
We continued my childhood tradition of cinnamon rolls for breakfast, and had the most relaxing morning opening up new toys and playing with them. My Dad stopped by to give them one last gift...a power wheels two-seater Jeep! They were so excited and I know it’s going to be hours of fun for them!
Brian worked the last two days, so this morning we are waiting for him to get home so he can get caught up on all the gifts Santa brought! Being a fire family during the holidays is never easy, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. We are one blessed family, and Christmas 2020 was one I will always hold dear to my heart. (Especially since it was my last pregnant Christmas ever!) Now bring on 2021, I’m ready to meet my newest little girlfriend!
