Valentine's Day!

Tuesday, February 16, 2016

Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day and long President's Day weekend. We were busy, busy as usual over here, but we had a lot of fun! :)

We had both of my sisters spend the night the night before, and started off our day of love with a festive breakfast of heart shaped french toast with nutella and strawberries. It literally tastes like you're eating dessert for breakfast! So yummy! We also had O.J., chocolate milk, and coffee in festive cups and mugs. Baylee even got a new heart cup of her own and had her first ever glass of orange juice. She loved it, of course, and had the craziest sugar rush after!

After breakfast, we exchanged gifts and cards. Baylee got a couple of VDay books, a stuffed lady bug, and a monkey balloon. I got Brian some Reese's peanut butter cups as well as a box of assorted flavors of peanuts with a lid that says "I'm nuts about you!". Brian got me some chocolate from Baylee and then while I was showering a delivery of the most beautiful Edible Arrangement came to the door! Food out ranks flowers on every level. :)

After Baylee's nap we took her to the park and let her run around. A great way to get some pictures of her in her adorable Valentine's Day outfit! It was perfect weather, and she had so much fun making us chase her around the whole park. She was so exhausted after, that she crabbed out all through church, but that's a toddler for ya!

After church, we had a delicious home-cooked dinner of steak, mashed red potatoes, broccoli, and garlic toast. My husband is the bomb! :) I was so hungry that I forgot to take any pictures! Dessert was red velvet brownies with ice cream, and I also made the most amazing fudge stuffed white cake cupcakes with strawberry frosting! Sugar high, anyone?

It was a super fun day to celebrate the people we love! And now, to Target I go to prep for St. Patty's and Easter! ;)

Until next time! XoXoXo

Secondary Infertility: The Missing Piece

Thursday, February 11, 2016

This post has been the hardest one for me to write. Ever. My intention for this blog was to keep it mostly light and airy; a simple, fun-filled, and sometimes very amusing but also very real take on motherhood. But as we all know, life throws those crazy curve balls now and then, and you can either duck and hide or face it head on and slam one out of the park. Though the fear is in me, I'm going to be strong and swing with all my might at this one.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to go public and actually blog about my infertility issue. Not only am I putting myself in a very vulnerable position, but once it's published it's just that much more real. After debating long and hard, I decided to go ahead and write about it. Not for my benefit, but for the thousands of other women out there who might be in the same boat as me and feel all alone with no one who truly gets it. I want you to you know that we are in this together, and there's someone who understands exactly how you feel. This blog post is dedicated to anyone who's ever had a child-shaped missing piece of their heart.

Inferility. My OBGYN wrote in on the diagnosis line on my orders for the radiologist and I just stared at the word and studied it. How can I own that word? I already have a beautiful and very naturally made baby. How was that word now mine?

For those who do not know, Brian and I have been trying for baby #2 for over a year now. It has always been my dream to have kids who are close in age and can grow up best friends, so as soon as we felt ready to open our hearts to another baby we began trying. We had no idea we would be here a year later with no new baby and seeking infertility testing. I knew my cycles were funky, but with Baylee we got pregnant the second month of trying, so the thought of being infertile never crossed my mind. I figured 6 months of trying tops.

Fast forward 9 months later and I was sitting with the nurse practitioner at my OBGYN's office explaining everything. When I was 21, my old OBGYN told me I had PCOS based on my irregular cycles and symptoms. So, I figured that could be what we were battling. The nurse practitioner put me on 3 cycles of birth control in hopes that that would kick start ovulation. But, lo and behold, nothing. So, two months later, I made another appointment and met with my OBGYN to discuss options. She was so understanding and ready to help. She gave me orders for some blood tests, a HSG test, and an ultrasound so that we could find out what we were really working with.

I spent the following week being poked and prodded at. The ultrasound and blood draw were no biggie, but the HSG was intense. It stands for a hysterosalpingogram, and without getting too graphic, they instert dye into a woman's uterus and watch where it flows to see if there is any kind of blockage in the fallopian tubes. It turns out that I had a blockage, but the dye flushed it out. Perfect. I thought that maybe that had been our issue, and left feeling hopeful (and in a lot of pain lol).

A few days later, I got a call from my doctor. She said, "Well all your bloodwork looks really good, but as far as your HSG, well, I'm not sure how you ever had a healthy, natural pregnancy on your own." Talk about a jaw drop. She went on to explain that I have what's called a unicornuate uterus. So, basically, I'm missing half of my uterus, and while I have two fallopian tubes and two ovaries, only one side (that we can tell so far) is connected to my uterus. So, since ovulation is sporadic as far as what side the egg drops from every month, my conception chances are cut in half or even lower compared to a "normal" woman. Damn. This was a lot to process.

She told me that she's super curious to get a closer look, so she suggested an MRI. While there's nothing that can be done to fix it, we could at least get a good plan going to help me get pregnant. There was my relief. She was going to help me get pregnant again. Thank the Lord!

When we got off the phone I was in a state of shock, and naturally, wanted to know more. I looked up as much information online as I could and found out that this uterine anomaly is something that happens during the early weeks of fetal development and they have no explanation yet what causes it. It only happens to 1 in 1,000 women, and it can also cause only one kidney to form, but other than that leaves the woman completely healthy. How crazy that I have lived with my body like this for almost 30 years and had absolutely no idea! Then, it hit me. Baylee...she was literally a miracle.

She's been my wonderful blessing of a baby since the day I saw the plus sign on my pregnancy test, but my love for her grew even more. How blessed I am that God put her in my belly despite the odds, and she's here with us today! I have never felt so grateful in my life.

So, yesterday I had my MRI, and I should be able to meet with my doctor and see my scans in the coming weeks. After that, we will begin some kind of fertility medication to help stimulate ovulation so that we can finally have another baby. For, as much as I love my girl, I have a missing piece. I want Baylee to have at least one sibling, and I know I was meant to have more babies. I can feel it in my heart.

As far as how I'm feeling mentally? Well, though it's a little shocking and a little sad, I'm trying to stay strong. God only gives us what He knows we can handle, and I am still wonderfully made in His image. And mostly, I'm just relieved to finally have answers. Anyone who's ever played the waiting game of trying to conceive knows how crushing it can be to the heart to see that negative test month after month. I'm happy to move forward, and ready to make this happen. And, as my lovely husband has said, it turns out that I'm a magical unicorn! Who would have thought I'm that cool?! :) (Let the unicorn obsession commence! lol)
As I find out more information, I will do future blog posts to keep you all updated! Please pray for our family that God will bless us and help us grow. :) Thank you for all your love and support!

(Updates: one, two, three)

Until next time! XoXoXo

"Love it!" List

Friday, February 5, 2016

This "Love it!" List has a bit of a Summer lovin' feel to it, as I am officially done with Winter. (Hopefully Punxsutawney Phil's prediction was correct!) I'm totally ready for shorts and tanks, long days, and to not have to scrape ice of my windshield before I go anywhere!

Speaking of "Summer Lovin'", did anyone else love "Grease Live" as much as I did?! I thought it was adorable, and the casting was perfect! (Although I still think of Vanessa Hudgens as Gabriella from HSM, so seeing her as naughty Rizzo was a little hard for me. Ha.) Did I ever mention I'm a total musical geek? :) Anyway, on with the list...

If you haven't discovered Signature Soy Candles at Target yet, you must find them! They're usually on the end cap of the candle aisle. Not only do they smell amazing but the large 15 oz is only $10 (4 oz. is $5 and 21 oz is $15)! Also, I've seen them on sale for only $8 now and then. I'm loving the Red Velvet Cupcake scent for VDay, and I have to get Exotic Pineapple for this summer! It literally smells like Dole Whip!

If you follow me on Insta (@mrs_tibbetts) you saw my post about my new obsession with the Pitaya Sunset smoothie at Juice It Up. Not only does it taste incredible, but it is the most beautiful shade of pink I've ever seen! Yes, pretty food conquers all.

Recently, my sisters introduced me to the joy that is Lush Cosmetics. They got me some lip scrub, bath bombs, and body wash for Christmas, and I have been hooked ever since! I've been eyeing this Unicorn Horn bubble bar and I really want to try one of these Shower Smoothies!

As the usual with every new season, I am obsessed with Carter's new arrivals for spring! This printed jersey romper is sunny weather perfection. And I really hope that these new poplin shorts that I'm seeing everywhere come in mommy sizes because I would wear the crap out of them! This summer is going to be the season of the mermaid for us (more on that in another post!) so Baylee needs these mermaid pajamas for sure!

I recently discovered Mother Trucker & Co. who make the most adorable trucker hats for mamas! I will definitely be floating in the pool with the black and gold "girl mama" hat when warm weather finally hits! :)

Last, but surely not least, how cute is this little Valentine and her ruffle booty?!

How did I get to be such a lucky mama? :)

Until next time! XoXoXo

10 Reasons I Love Being a SAHM!

Tuesday, February 2, 2016

When I found out I was pregnant with Baylee, I knew immediately that I was going to be a stay at home mom no matter what sacrifices it took. It was, and still is, important to me to be the primary caregiver for my little love.

Now, working moms, please don't think I don't support you, because I totally do! In fact, I give you mad, mad props! I don't know how you do the balancing act, but you make it happen and stay amazing! :) So, keep up the great work!

For me, I've never wanted another job more than to be a Mama. I've gotten a lot of judgement here and there for my decision, but I don't regret it one bit. No, I don't have all the little luxuries I used to have. We don't have a huge fancy house or go on vacations all the time, but that's okay! The time I get to spend with my daughter is so much better, and I feel so much more rich because of it. So, if you're debating on being a SAHM, here are 10 reasons why I love it so...

1. I get to see every milestone. I was there for her first word, first crawl, first step...all of it. Those memories of my baby growing and developing will be in my mind forever, and I feel so blessed for that.

2. My family eats home-cooked meals 90% of the time. Occasionally, we will go out to eat, but it's super rare. I love that my husband can come home to a hot meal and that I'm not eating junk food on my lunch breaks like I used to when I was working.

3. We don't have to pay for daycare. Believe it or not, staying home with Baylee actually saves us money. Daycare isn't cheap, so putting her in one would have taken most of my paychecks.

4. Baylee is advanced with her language development. She said her first word at only 6 months old, and has been talking up a storm ever since! Lately, she has been already putting together small sentences and repeating everything I say. I truly believe that this is because I get to speak to her all day every day, and really spend time focusing on new words with her.

5. I get to be her pre-preschool teacher. I think a lot of people have the misconception that SAHM's just sit on their butt and watch TV all day, and while that may be true for some; it's not how we roll in this house. I make sure we have lessons through play every day. We count, learn ABC's, sing songs, and do sensory experiments, along with a lot of other activities. We watch some TV during quiet times, of course, but I love to be able to mostly focus on her learning.

6. I get to take her to experience her world. I often feel that if I was working, Baylee wouldn't have the experiences that I get to give her. Even if it's just going to a park or Disneyland, she gets exposed to many different things and people of all ages, and I think that is so important.

7. I never dread waking up in the morning. I used to hate getting up for work. I would roll myself out of bed and be grumpy until my morning java kicked in. Now, I hear that little girl on her monitor quietly playing with her stuffed dog and smile. Waking up to her is the best time of my day.

8. I get "me" time. I know this will change when she eventually drops her nap, but for now, nap time is my "me" time. I get to blog, take a nap, paint my nails...whatever I want to do. Nap time keeps me sane!

9. I get to go with the flow. While our day is never short of a little chaos, I mostly get to go with the flow. There's no stress of meetings or deadlines, and my boss is only 18 months old, so she's only a little demanding. ;) If the house doesn't get cleaned or we never change out of our pajamas, that's okay. There's always tomorrow!

10. I get to spend every day with my bestie. Talk about having a great co-worker! That little girl is my best friend, and she has taught me more about life and myself than anyone else in the world. The fact that I get to spend every day with her is the best gift God could have ever given me.

I mean, just look at this face and try to walk out the door...

Until next time! XoXoXo

Today With Bay!

Monday, January 25, 2016

7:30 Coffee in bed!

We just got new grey and white bedding *swoon*, and it is sooo comfortable! I made my coffee and hopped right back in bed! :)

7:45 Morning Mom!

8:00 "Eat!" Breakfast :)

Baylee had bananas and waffles with some syrup for dipping and Mama had a whole wheat english muffin with PB and bananas. Yummmm

8:30 Baby Einstein for Bay and cleaning for me!

My brain couldn't handle any Disney Channel shows today, so Baylee watched a few Baby Einsteins about colors and numbers. The classical music is way more relaxing for both of us. :) And, yes, Baylee is sitting in her doll stroller...thanks to Daddy for teaching her that. :/

9:30 Books and puzzles

10:00 Potty time!

Baylee decided to try and start potty training again today! She went pee once and poop once...it's a start! :)

 10:15 Dinner prep

Some chicken breasts and salsa in the crock pot...easiest chicken tacos ever!

 10:30 Milk and a movie

I finally got Baylee off the bottle nipples! Woohoo! I found a sippy cup spout made out of the same material as the nipples that fit on all of her Nuk bottles and we never looked back. Finally! P.S. We watched "Inside Out" while we snuggled. :)

12:00 Nap time!

12:15 Mommy time!

I should have exercised, but I just didn't feel up for it. I took a shower, had some reflection time, and closed my eyes for a half hour instead. It's nice to get some peace.

2:00 Baylee's still sleeping...

My Dad and sister came over, so I got to go to Target *gasp* alone!

3:00 Baylee still sleeping!!! Better wake that kid up...

3:15 Late lunch

I had my sister wake up the girl from her 3 hour snooze. Though she woke up in a good mood, it was accompanied by a stuffy, runny nose. Crap.

4:00 Outside play!

Sunshine and silly songs heal everything!

5:30 Dinner!

My spoiled girl got to eat her tacos in front of the TV tonight because we had family over. A rare happening, but she loves doing it. (Typical kid)

6:00 I told myself no...

But my eyes and tummy said "all the yes's!" Oh well...

6:30 Bath time!

"Baylee, who do you want to give you your bath tonight?" "Umm...Dada!" He wins every time!

7:00 Jammie time!

7:15 Ready for my story!

7:30 Drink milk and brush teeth

 8:00 Goodnight kisses!

I can tell sweet girl doesn't feel too well because she went right to bed without a fuss! Hopefully she feels better in the morning!

Goodnight loves!

Until next time! XoXoXo
